Important
To perform the eKYC process, make sure that you have a document that you need to sign, either a document that you created yourself and need to sign or a document from another document creator who invited you to sign the document.

If you do not meet the criteria mentioned above, you cannot perform the eKYC process, and when you click “Start data verification”, you will be directed to the following screen.

This may be caused by:
1. You do not yet have a document that you need to sign.
2. Your previous eKYC verification process is still in progress.

In Mekari Sign, you can now complete verification and the eKYC process, which functions to issue a digital certificate, so that the electronic signature you provide is official and recognized by private entities, the government, and the national judicial system (according to Article 11 of the 2008 Electronic Information and Transactions Law). This certificate is valid for one year, so you can complete verification and the eKYC process once a year. 

Here are the steps:

1. Go to the Settings page

2. On the Account tab, select Digital certificate.
   

3. On this page, click the “Start data verification” button.
   

4. Select your citizenship status and one type of identity document that you can prepare. Then, click "Submit".
   

5. Read the applicable terms and conditions, then check the checkbox at the bottom and click “Activate account”.
   

6. Upload a photo of your ID card if you are an Indonesian citizen.
   

   - Make sure the NIK you enter has never been used to perform eKYC.
   - If you are a foreign national, the following is an example of the KITAP screen.
   

7. For Indonesian citizens, you can enter your NIK and full name, then click “Next”.
   

   If you are a foreign national, you can complete the personal information form, such as your name, KITAP number, KITAP expiration date, country of origin, passport photo, passport number, passport expiration date, and a photo of your work permit. Then, click "Next".
   

8. If the NIK you entered previously has been used to perform eKYC, you will see information about the email address linked to that NIK. Next, enter that email address in the available confirmation field.
   

   - You need to confirm through email. If you do not complete the confirmation, you will see the following screen.
   
   - In the confirmation email, you can click the “Yes, its’s me” button to confirm. Only then can you continue to the next step.
   

9. A 6-digit OTP will be sent to your email. Enter the OTP code in the available field, then click "Send".
   

10. Next, perform liveness detection by clicking “Start” and facing the camera, according to the following requirements:
    - Remove facial accessories (glasses, hat, and mask).
    - Make sure the lighting is good—not too dark or too bright.
    

11. Then, follow the instructions that appear on your screen.
    

12. If your eKYC verification process is approved, your digital certificate will be issued shortly. However, if your eKYC verification process is rejected, you will be directed to complete the manual eKYC verification process.
